Policy Area (PA) ‘Culture’ focuses on culture and creative sectors and industries in the Baltic Sea region.

The Policy Area (PA) Culture's actions include promoting the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) by encouraging Creative entrepreneurship, as well as promoting and presenting the BSR's Culture using the innovative force of culture for societal development. PA Culture also focuses on preservation and presentation of the BSR's Cultural heritage and strengthening the Cultural identity of the region, as well as developing an efficient framework for Cultural cooperation within the BSR. PA Culture is currently coordinated by Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) and Poland.

Culture makes cities stronger picture 

We, the Policy Area Culture, together with the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre (BSCC) in Gdańsk are happy to invite you to our event 'Culture Makes Cities Stronger Baltic Sea Cultural Pearls - resilient cities and regions'which will be held on 24 April 2024 in Warsaw, Poland and online.

This meeting is addressed mainly to representatives of towns, cities, and municipalities, especially those less central, whom we would like to encourage to participate in the project BSR Cultural Pearls and, with the call now open, apply for the title of the Baltic Sea Region Cultural Pearl 2025.

Plan ahead with PA Culture and mark your calendars!

On November 19th and 20th, 2024, PA Culture, together with the CCI Contact Desk in Tallinn and Baltic Sea Cultural Centre (BSCC) in Gdańsk is going to host the InnoCulture Conference in Gdańsk, Poland, creating a platform to gather cultural projects and stakeholders from around the Baltic Sea Region for networking and a variety of inspiring workshops!

Baltic Sea Creativ Workshops 02

ARS BALTICA, PA Culture, and the CCI Contact Desk hosted a series of online workshops. In total, there were three workshops:

💡 “From Brainstorming to Breakthroughs: Transforming Ideas into Actionable Plans” on the 30th of October with our expert Tiina-Katrina Kaber.
🤝 "From Contact to Connection: Tools for Effective Partnership Building" on the 15th of November with our expert Agata Etmanowicz.
📈 "Beyond the Basics: Exploring Opportunities for Fundraising and Development” on the 30th of November with our expert Lars Schieber.

PA Culture organised the webinar 'EU strategic frameworks for culture' on 20 June 2023. You can watch the recording on YouTube or read the review to get an overview of the frameworks and funding opportunities of European Cultural Policy, the New European Bauhaus as well as EIT Culture and Creativity Knowledge and Innovation Community.


PAC Roundtable hybrid

The Roundtable 'Cultural relations in turbulent times' hosted by PA Culture took place in Lappeenranta and online with around 25 participants from 10 different countries. The speakers Nicholas Cull and Solomiya Borshosh spoke about reputational security and the work of the Ukrainian Institute, read our review to share in the insights given by them.
