Watch: stronger eastern border regions through cooperation

Stronger eastern border regions: the Regio-Silience journey.

A new documentary follows Europe’s eastern border regions as they turn shared geopolitical challenges into practical ideas, stronger partnerships and more resilient communities through interregional cooperation.

How can regions respond when long-standing cross-border links are disrupted by war, closed borders and growing security concerns?

The 12-minute documentary ‘Stronger eastern border regions: the Regio-Silience’ journey follows two years of collaboration among more than 30 local and regional authorities from Poland, the Baltic States, Finland and Norway.

Supported by the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform, Regio-Silience brings regions together to exchange experience and explore practical responses in economic development, security, community resilience and regional cooperation. The film shows the journey from Antwerp to policy-learning activities in Olsztyn, Salla and Kirkenes.

The documentary also shows how regional experience can inform the European debate on the future of the EU’s eastern border regions. It highlights the value of peer learning and cooperation in developing practical ideas, building lasting partnerships and strengthening resilience.
