Upcoming events and new publications supporting nutrient recycling

There are several upcoming interesting events and publications related to nutrient recycling and sustainable nutrient management. Please take note of them and join us for interesting discussions!

Journal Baltic Rim Economies has published an issue dedicated to nutrient recycling and sustainable nutrient management. It includes an abundance of interesting and valuable information and articles from different perspectives.

Webinar PA Nutri Talks on Nutrient recycling in the Baltic Sea Region will take place on 9 June and is now open for registrations. The webinar will discuss experiences from different countries on policies supporting nutrient recycling, point of view of farmers and ongoing EU-funded projects. The event is also a partner event of EU Green Week and organised by Policy Areas Nutri and Bioeconomy. Read more and register here.

Centrum Balticum organizes Baltic Sea Region Forum in Turku on 12 May. The event can be followed online and includes a panel discussion on nutrient recycling, with perspectives from food industry, researchers and experts.

A new review of challenges and opportunities in nutrient recycling has been published by CiNURGi-project which is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region -programme. The authors Erik Sindhöj and Cheryl Marie Cordeiro highlight need for further technological innovation, effective contamination management, supportive policies, market incentives and stakeholder education as ways how nutrient recycling could be implemented to practice more efficiently.

CiNURGi-project organised a competition for “Best practices and innovative solutions for recycling of nutrients” in 2024. The evaluation of practices is now in “semifinals”, as 11 cases have been prioritized for final ranking. Read more about the practices and watch a short film about the selection process.

More to come as projects funded by Interreg-programmes will have more results ready for sharing.
