Sustainable water management in the Baltic Sea Region

Innovative solutions are essential for addressing the water management challenges posed by climate change. In the Baltic Sea region, droughts are becoming more frequent, and there is also a growing need to adapt to floods and other localised pressures. Implementing new solutions can help reduce nutrient leakage and emissions into the sea or even enhance biodiversity.

The event “Riding the Wave – Sustainable Water Management in the Baltic Sea Region,” organized by Centrum Balticum, explored these challenges and the solutions being developed through four projects funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region program (ReNutriWater, WaterMan, NurseCoast II and CityBlues) and a keynote by Patrick Child, Deputy Director General at DG Environment. This event was also a partner event of EU Green Week. The discussion was led by EUSBSR’s Policy Area Nutri, focusing on the innovative approaches of these projects.
