Projects – steps towards changes

On 29th of April 2025, coordinators of two Policy Areas under EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region: Policy Area Bioeconomy and Policy Area Transport gathered about 50 participants from Lithuania to the Webinar “Projects – steps towards change”.

The Webinar gave the opportunity to discuss more deeply on the goals of EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, priorities of Policy Area Bioeconomy and Transport, focus of Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme and Call for Small Scale Projects, that are particularly related to shifting to sustainability, acceleration of bioeconomy in rural areas, efforts of communities concerning the preparedness to crises and resilience and initiatives of green transport:

  • Creating innovative communities and solutions
  • Water resource management and solutions
  • Efforts to combat climate change

Coordinators of Policy Areas Mrs. Dalia Miniataitė, Mrs. Vitalija Fokienė and Mr. Dalius Kontrimavičius shared information on EU Strategy of the Baltic Sea Region and two Policy Areas, support of financial instrument ‒ Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme for projects of Baltic Sea Region.

Project coordinators of ongoing projects shared the success stories about their experience. Mr. Julius Paulikas (“Klaipeda Public Transport Authority“ Lithuania) shared experience of project BATS (financed of Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme). The aim of the project to help local authorities plan and set up suitable infrastructure for year-round walking and cycling, and build an active mobility culture among people, as a green and healthy transport option regardless of the season.   Ms. Aušra Keterytė („Association of Klaipeda Region Municipalities” Lithuania) presented project BASCIL (financed of Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme). The project BASCIL helps local food producers in rural areas diversify their business into sustainable culinary tourism services, and thus reach new customers.

Participants were very active asking questions as real success stories gives the thoughts and inspire new projects.
