Back to all Policy Areas

Policy Area Hazards offers knowledge transfer and capacity building through training courses and workshops. Solutions and practical measures can be tested through cooperation in projects and Policy Area Coordinators drive policy impact through recommendations from lessons learnt.

There also two active peer-networks operating under the umbrella of the Policy Area:

The Baltic Sea Pharma Platform

The Baltic Sea Pharma Platform (BSR Pharma) is a platform under the Policy Area Hazards. It brings together projects and stakeholders from the Baltic Sea Region to promote work carried out the pharmaceuticals in the environment topic, and to facilitate knowledge-transfer.

The BSR Pharma focuses on pharmaceuticals in the environment, with the focus being ultimately shaped by platform participants. The main objective of the platform is to support knowledge transfer on the issue within the region. Thus, the BSR Pharma does not actively produce concrete outputs, but provides a platform for discussing and promoting the outputs produced in relevant projects.

The Baltic Sea Region Pharma Platform was created under Policy Area Hazards in 2017. Since 2021, it is run by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).

The Baltic Sea BFAS Network

The Baltic Sea BFAS Network is a knowledge sharing platform to improve the understanding of PFASs in waste streams to reduce their emissions to the Baltic Sea. The purpose of the platform is to connect different stakeholders and experts from different fields.

The Baltic Sea Region platform on PFAS in the environment was created under Policy Area Hazards in 2021, and is run by the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL).
