First meeting in Brussels after the pandemic

The first meeting in the Steering Group for Policy Area Education in 2023 was held in Brussels during the annual Macro-regional Strategies week.

Traditionally the Steering Group holds one of the two meetings in Brussels. Due to the pandemic the previous meeting was held in 2019. Like then the meeting was hosted by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions. Sweden holds the Presidency and therefore Cecilia Ragnarsson from the Ministry for Education and Research led the meeting.

On the agenda was to provide feedback to the policy area coordinators based on their yearly report, to be updated on the progress of the flagships and to inform each other on news from the member states.

Workshop on science and research cooperation

Following the meeting a workshop on science and research cooperation was held with two key-note speakers, Claudia Pecoraro, Healthy Seas and Ocean unit, DG Research and Innovation and Dr Kajsa Paulsson, Project Director HALRIC at Lund University.

Ms Pecoraro explained the EU missions with focus on restoring our oceans and waters. Dr Paulsson presented their new project, HALRIC on cooperation in life sciences in the south part of the Baltic Sea Region.
