New funding opportunities at Swedish Institute
The Swedish Institute (SI) will open calls in early spring 2026, including a new project funding programme supporting cooperation in the Baltic Sea region and the EU Eastern Partnership, as well as the leadership programme Impact Pioneers ’26 Europe.
Swedish Institute has reviewed its project funding programmes for transnational cooperation, as part of a broader alignment with new strategic governance. While the work is ongoing, Swedish Iinstitute would like to share an early update with partners in the Baltic Sea region on upcoming calls.
Swedish INstitute will launch a new project funding programme in March. Although full details are not yet available, the programme will support cooperation aligned with the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, including strengthening networks, fostering knowledge exchange, and addressing shared challenges linked to the Strategy’s Action Plan. It will be possible to apply for two types of grants; to initiate cooperation and to further deepen and develop cooperation.
The programme builds on Swedish Institute’s longstanding role in facilitating cross‑border cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region. The new programme aims to continue this tradition while adapting to a changing geopolitical context and new strategic priorities. Swedish Instityte’s funding has supported organisations in the region to form lasting cross‑border partnerships that contribute to the objectives of the Strategy. Swedish Institute also opens a call for applications to the Impact Pioneers ’26 EUROPE leadership programme on March 25, 2026. The programme will welcome applications from 10 countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan). Through an 8-week hybrid programme, combining weekly online sessions with an immersive 1-week onsite conference in Sweden (September 27-October 3), the Institute will convene entrepreneurship and innovation enablers across the region to jointly explore the theme of ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Resilient Futures’.
