Bioindustrial symbioses in the Baltic Sea Region

Vilnius
03 December 2024 - 03 December 2024

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania, as co-coordinator of the Policy Area Bioeconomy under EU Strategy of the Baltic Sea Region and Nordregio invites to the Conference on the progress and possibilities of ‘industrial symbiosis’ across the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) in their transition towards biobased economy.

The aim is to create analytical clarity between the aims (sustainability, green economy, circular economy) and the means (valorisation, industrial symbiosis). After clarifying concepts, presentations will illustrate how ‘industrial symbiosis’ can be a useful concept and model to accelerate the transition towards the green and bioeconomy. You will learn about the practical steps needed to facilitate collaboration between industries, induce value creation along supply chains, and overcome potential challenges. Additionally, you will also gain insights from the practical experiences of businesses and public actors in the BSR who are engaged in industrial symbiosis activities.

This seminar is open to public authorities, business representatives, academics, or anyone who is keen to explore how industrial symbiosis can facilitate the transition to a circular economy.
